Jim Goodwin in Aberdeen transfer ‘contingency’ pledge with Lewis Ferguson and Calvin Ramsay in demand

Jim Goodwin insists he will have replacements lined up should any clubs come in to land any of Aberdeen ’s top stars this summer.

The likes of Lewis Ferguson and Calvin Ramsay have been watched by a number of interested parties in recent weeks.

The manager is adamant that none of their main players will be sold unless the Dons’ asking price is met and if it is then he will have contingency plans in place to strengthen his squad.

Goodwin said: “There are a lot of clubs out there that are looking at those two players in particular.

“Good players will always have teams interested in them.

“That is just part and parcel of the game we are in.

“Obviously every player has a valuation and if that valuation is met and it works out well for both parties then we will consider it.

“However, if offers that are made are not satisfactory then the player will be going nowhere.

“We will have contingency plans in place and will be prepared for whatever happens.

“We will make sure we will have ideal replacements if we do lose any players from the squad.”

Cagliari watched Scotland cap Ferguson earlier this season while Italian rivals Sassuolo are keeping close tabs on Ramsay.

Bologna had a bid for the right-back turned down in the last window and he has recently been linked to Liverpool but a move there looks unlikely.

Goodwin knows that Ramsay and Ferguson aren’t the only players that attract interest and midfielder Connor Barron, who has recently exploded on to the first-team scene could be another. The Aberdeen boss knows that every one of his players will be available if the price is right.

Goodwin added: “I couldn’t tell you right now that those players definitely won’t be leaving in the summer.

“I don’t want to make any statements like that, because everybody has a price.

“I’m quite sure Connor Barron will be catching the eye of a lot of teams as well, because he has had a fantastic season.

“We just need to wait and see what comes.”

Goodwin has already started making moves for strengthening his squad and to make sure they don’t end up in the bottom six again.

Ipswich Town keeper Vaclav Hladky is on their wanted list while the club are also exploring a number of other different English options.

Aberdeen had made an approach to St Mirren for defender Charles Dunne but there has been no further movement on that front, with the clubs still apart in their valuations.
